Lauren WiffinLauren is officially the youngest dancer in the group and reckons she’s never done anything like before! Hence the reason to give it a go.
Lauren says “This is a little outside my comfort zone so this is a great opportunity to build my confidence and learn something new along the way, and I used to love seeing Harold when he came to school, which seems like yesterday. I grew up with music and dancing. My Mum and Aunty taught me Rock 'n' Roll when I was younger and I loved it. I am currently doing a Personal Training course and I work part-time but I am also very excited to take part in this amazing event. It's going to be so much fun!” Willie RobinsonWillie is a familiar face around the Taupō area. If he’s not trying to sell you a house you will no doubt see him around the golf course or out and about socialising. Not one to shy away from the spotlight, Willie jumped at the opportunity to participate in the Dancing for Life Education in partnership with Penny Homes.
Willie says “Dancing might push me out of my comfort zone, but I am looking forward to the challenge and supporting a great cause.” |

Teacher: Julian BishopJulian Bishop started partner dancing at age 11. A few years later he was invited to partner for the upcoming junior champs at Harbour City Rock and Roll Club in Wellington. He is also experienced in Latin and Argentine Tango and Performance. Julian has a passion for teaching others and today, runs classes in Rock and Roll and Basestep Modern Jive. Currently around five public classes per week over three nights between Turangi and Taupō. Additionally, he conducts private classes and coaches performance teams as they prepare for upcoming events. Julian has been assisted by the fantastic Holly Rabone.
Teacher: Holly RaboneHolly started dancing when she was 5 years old doing jazz, ballet and contemporary. At university she started competing in modern jive competitions around the country. She then moved on to West Coast swing where she has competed in New Zealand and abroad. Holly moved to Taupo 2 years ago after working in Tauranga for a couple of years. She is a companion animal veterinarian with VetPlus. She has really enjoyed learning base step with Julian the past year and has been grateful for the opportunity to choreograph for and teach novice dancers.
